What is an MDU?

The MDU-G4 mechanical drive unit is a high-performance steering actuator designed for precise steering when integrated with a GPS automated steering system. It features easy installation, portability between vehicles, and a long service life. The MDU-G4 utilizes a reliable high-torque DC motor and a robust gear drive for fast and responsive steering in all field conditions. Its unique split gear design and quick-release latch allow for installation without removing the steering wheel, saving time and facilitating easy transfer between vehicles.This manual provides essential information and an overview of the installation process for the MDU-G4 steering actuator on various vehicles. Pre-Installation Checklist

Before installing the MDU-G4 system, verify the following on your vehicle:
  • Ensure the vehicle's steering system is in good working order by test-driving it to confirm there is no play in the steering and it turns proportionally to the left and right.
  • Confirm the vehicle's electrical system and battery are functioning properly.
  • Thoroughly clean the vehicle to improve the overall installation and cable routing.
If any issues are found, they must be repaired by a qualified service person before beginning the MDU-G4 installation.
